sanctuary

Each night, when the slog is done and we leave it all behind
Some blokes head to the corner pub to have their daily pint
Others may have a dinner date, or workout at the gym
Or watch TV, enjoy some music or catch a football game
For me the unwinding would require a switch that I flick on
And in a nanosecond watch the power send a bunch of electrons
Racing cross half the world and back again to the screen in front of me
Lighting up a million pixels to open the realm of Sanctuary
With armour donned and jewels worn, with weapons in both hands
I head out into the battlefield and beside me my trusty companion
Sometimes, we’d also like to have our own pets along in tow
Cos’ of the camaraderie among familiar friends when we take down the foe
The goal is to search for gold and loot and every fight’s so keenly waged
It doesn’t matter if the enemy’s a monster, demon lord, or an evil mage
If the gear that drops seems inferior to our equipment’s stats
We’d bring them back to town when the pack is full and break them down to mats
These materials we’d then stash away until the right time has come
Then we’ll go to Myriam to improve the stats or Eamon to forge us some
We’ll scour each location across all five acts from Tristram to West March
Past Caldeum and Bastion’s Keep, and High Heaven’s Crystal Arch
We’ll try our best to try and save poor Leah, we know the effort’s futile though
For each time we take this adventure to the end, she still turns into Diablo
There’s nothing that a mortal can do to change this wretched situation
Even mankind’s hero, the Archangel Tyrael, can’t bring her to salvation
And while this task seems pointless to some because it’s a forgone conclusion
We’ll grind it out again each night to bring our gear closer to perfection
